NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT

Sorry the newsletter is so late, here at the Garrett household everyone is either sick or getting over being sick.

                                    For the first time in three years we had good weather at Palestine.  It was nice not having to fight the weather.  Moving the tournament back a week was a good idea by the Tournament Directors.   

                                    We had twenty teams compete and a lot of fish caught.  James Chesser caught the big fish at 3.90. First place went to Scott Dubee and Gene Canney with 22.85 pounds.  John and Jean Scarborough came in second with 20.10 pounds and third place went to Bill Wilcox and Barbara Potts19.45 pounds.

MARCH TOURNAMENT 

 Our next tournament will be at Wood County, March 8^th and 9^th.  Everyone has the opportunity to fish four lakes - Holbrook, Winnsboro, Hawkins, and Quitman.  The weigh in will be at the South Holbrook Ramp.  This will be the first tournament of the year with the new start time.  Legal fishing hours are from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday, with 14” minimum of all fish brought into weigh-in.

This is one of the Bass Club’s most popular tournaments of the year and Joe Venable has really come through.  Saturday we will be having steak, fries and salad.  Cost will be $5.00 per person.  We are going to need an accurate headcount so Joe does not get stuck with a bunch of steaks.  If you can not make it to the meeting on Tuesday and plan on joining us for the cookout, please contact Joe Venable at home at 817-277-0959 or cell 817-999-1538.  If you can not get a hold of Joe call me at home 817-466-3384 or at work 817-280-1485.  We need to hear from everyone by Wednesday March 5.  If you are not on the list do not expect to be fed.   

MARCH MEETING

Our next meeting will be Tuesday March 4 at 7:00 PM @ Cocker’s BBQ.

Scott Clawson, Vice-President of Angler’s Edge, will be our guest speaker this month   His firm represents several tackle manufactures in the area.  I know he will be bringing some rods to demonstrate and sell  I look forward to seeing everyone there
